Back to the crappy President we have now...

Well, that didn't take long. Only a couple of days since The Great Reagan was put in the ground and we're already back to focusing on the crappy President we're stuck with now (as opposed to the crappy President who just died). Plenty of stuff on the net over the last few days about the latest W. misshaps. The funniest is perhaps today's lead on Salon: "The Inner W." A review of three new books on psychological profiles of El Presidente. Like much psychoanalysis, there's a fair bit of rubbish blended with some interesting core ideas. Personally, I've never subscribed to the obsession with Saddam was some sort of "revenge" for the attempted assassination of his father and it was nice to see it described as something else (even if I feel that the rush against Saddam had more to do with the neocons obsession with the man, and that he was an easy target...whereas Kim Jong Il and North Korea are a much tougher nut to crack).

More important, it brings up (once again) the truly scary nature of Barbara Bush, whom I've long heard is a demon incarnate. A number of people have reported that she is a very frightening individual. I think the Bushes are a wonderful example not only of how power corrupts everyone it touches, but moreover - that those who desire power are often the least suitable people for it. Don't get me wrong - the Clintons are hardly saints in this regard, nor are the Kennedys or the Daley's or any of the other powerful political families of America. But somehow, I don't get a malevolent feeling from any of them...not like I do with the Bush family. I don't know what it is - the liberal in me perhaps.
