Moving Day

AAAS, in its infinite wisdom, has decided to give me an office of my very own. Five years of sharing an office/cube in 927 with five different people - all of whom I liked - and they are finally rewarding me with my own office. And the cool thing is, I didn't even have to ask for it. I would have been perfectly happy staying in the same place I've been since Lizzie left in 2000 (Note: While I have been in 927 for over five years, I have managed to sit in four different locations in that office, due to moves and construction.). Oh, don't get me wrong...I'm pleased that I'm getting my own. It was just never a big deal to me. Regardless, its moving day for me, so I'll make this short and sweet.

Wanted to attach a few pictures here, but the silly blogger ap won't seem to let me. Probably Firefox...

Anyway...

More on Gary Fischer: The WSJ had an interesting article/editorial on Bobby Fischer the other day, written by none other than Gary Kasparov. He has some interesting points to make about a very flawed individual, but importantly notes that for many people playing chess today, they owe quite a bit to Fischer's genius and it is certainly a shame what he has become. I had forgotten about the anti-Semitism that developed in more recent years and it only makes him a sadder individual.

Just goes to show you that If a person waits long enough s/he gets his/her comeupance (and yes this can be a positive term)
