Anybody want an AK-47?

Well...the assault weapons ban looks like it will expire on Monday. This despite widespread popularity in the United States. Polls show that two thirds of Americans support it continuing, and yet morons like Bill Frist (the heartsurgeon who "cares" as my friend DC put it once), says:
"I think the will of the American people is consistent with letting it expire, so it will expire."
I guess his definition of the "will of the people" is different from everybody else's. Look - it isn't a perfect law, but stats seem clear that assault weapons violence has decreased by two-thirds since it was enacted in 1994. Only in America can something overwhelmingly popular, supported by police chiefs, supported by average Americans still fail to pass through Congress.
