For those about to pop, we salute you

First off...dead tired this morning. Got home late after the BDB show at 930 Club last night. Awesome show, as usual. He played two sets which came out to about 3 hours or so of music - almost unheard of in an age where artists sometimes only do a 90 minute or less set and that's it. I also quite liked his refusal to do encores - encores used to be something very special for extra-special nights. Now they've become choreographed parts of shows and it drives me batty every time.

Mini rant: Talking during shows. Listen folks...I don't care if you're best friends with the artist or whatever. Don't talk loudly to each other during the show. None of us want to hear you - we paid to hear the artist. If you want to talk, get out of the crowd and away from everyone else.

Mini rant #2: Get a room. PDAs are all fine and dandy - different couples handle them in different ways. But...at a public event there is a difference between a public display of affection and making out with one another, hanging on each other, holding hands and singing to each other, etc. This is not a production number in Grease. This is a concert - show some dignity.

Now that those are out of the way, thought I'd forward this little gem of a website that I ran across today. Earlier this year, I "came out" as a fan of pop music. And since I've admitted that, I've been quite happy. Over at Popjustice, they not only rave about certain pop acts, but they also make fun of what needs to be made fun of. Typical British sense of humor, but still funny stuff. I love this little section, advocating a "public service announcement" calling on people to stop dancing to OutKast's "Hey Ya!"
IF YOU HEAR "1-2-3!" ON A NIGHT OUT, DO NOT SPRINT TO THE DANCEFLOOR. STAY AT THE BAR, IN YOUR SEAT, OR AT THE URINAL. TOO MANY DRINKS, TOO MANY ASHTRAYS, AND TOO MUCH URINE HAVE ALREADY BEEN SPILT.
Good stuff. :)
