Guz Watch: The Guz catches fire!

2 for 4 last night!! He didn't really "help" the cause any (zero runs scored, zero RBI), but neither did he absolutely hinder it (only 1 left on base, and one of his hits was a f*cking double!!!)(Update: Forgot to note that...while Guzman did double...he was then picked off second when he took too big a lead...*sigh*). Still, his average is up to .191 which puts him in danger of crawling back over the Mendoza Line.

The Watch Update:
AB: 41 H: 6 AVG: .146 K: 6 BB: 1 XBH: 1 LOB: 24 R: 2 RBI: 1

That I remarked when this started, Guz's plate performances aren't the only problem - he's been having trouble in the field. Last night, Guz did commit his 5th error of the season and it was a costly one - it kept the Atlanta rally in the top of the 8th inning going and was immediately followed by the intentional walk to Betemit and Estrada's three run single + Wilkerson error. Had we not rallied in the bottom of the 8th, the loss would have been squarely on Guzman's shoulders.

Lucky for us...we got some timely hitting and rallied for a big win...taking 3 of 4 from the Braves. Not a bad start for the homestand...only 1.5 back with Florida coming into town. Even better...we don't have to face Dontrelle Willis this weekend since he pitched in Pittsburgh last night...though we do get Josh Beckett tonight against Livan.

Yes...he's 3 for his last 8...this does not mean the Watch will abandon the cause. I think it's a bit too early to say that Guz is out of the boiling pot. Let's see if he can string together a solid series against the Marlins - let's just say...I have my doubts. ;) Still...congrats to Guz on his two game hitting streak.
